Code of Conduct for Learners<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The following constitutes a serious breach of school rules:<\/strong><\/p>

  • Smoking \/ vaping on or off the school premises<\/li>
  • Absence from school without parent\u2019s permission<\/li>
  • Theft committed at or outside school<\/li>
  • Open defiance of educator\u2019s or non-educator\u2019s authority<\/li>
  • Vandalism to school property (Parents will have to pay for the repairs)<\/li>
  • Excessive aggressive behaviour. (This will be dealt with by the Disciplinary Committee and may lead to suspension or expulsion.<\/li>
  • Late coming<\/li>
  • Absence without producing a letter or medical certificate<\/li>
  • Running or playing on stoeps, playing between teacher\u2019s cars and playing in the classrooms<\/li>
  • Play fighting or serious fighting<\/li>
  • Disobeying the prefects or the scholar patrol<\/li>
  • Bringing toys to school, knives or sharp objects (unless asked for by the teacher)<\/li>
  • Chewing of chewing gum \/ bubble-gum<\/li>
  • Wearing casual clothes only on Civvies days<\/li>
  • Playing in areas not allowed, e.g. the Grade R play park<\/li>
  • Disregarding the pedestrian crossing when crossing First Road<\/li>
  • Leaving the school without permission from the teacher or the office<\/li>
  • Cell phones not allowed \u2013for calls purchase a phone card for the public phone in the admin block at school<\/li><\/ul>

    DETENTION:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

    What warrants Detention:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

    • Fighting<\/li>
    • Swearing<\/li>
    • Homework not done on TWO occasions (recorded)<\/li>
    • Disrespect to the NON_TEACHING STAFF (Substitutes)<\/li>
    • Damaging School Building \/ Property<\/li>
    • Stealing<\/li>
    • Cheating in a test<\/li>
    • Walking around without a pass<\/li>
    • Late arrival for school \u2013 Second offence<\/li>
    • Leaving school premises without permission e.g. shop, home<\/li>
    • Not bringing P.E. Gear \u2013 Second offence<\/li>
    • Bringing school\u2019s name into disrepute<\/li><\/ul>

      \u00a0<\/p>

      TEACHERS\u2019 ROLE (Own Class):<\/u><\/strong><\/p>

      1. Record offence in Discipline Book.<\/li>
      2. Detention names to co-ordinators by Wednesday for Friday.<\/li>
      3. Names to be accompanied by Type and Nature of offence.<\/li>
      4. Disciplinary Committee \u2013 to keep a regular register in order to monitor and assist with class discipline.<\/li>
      5. Parents will be notified with a standard letter.<\/li>
      6. In the letter \u2013 Nature of offence and Date of detention to be specified.<\/li>
      7. Letter sent by Wednesday in order for parents to make necessary arrangements for transport, Mosque, where necessary.<\/li><\/ol>

          6. Deliberate and serious undermining of the authority of the principal and educators and non-teaching staff.<\/p><\/td>

          6. Possessing a weapon at school, e.g. knife, firearm, dagger, panga, stick or objects which can be used as a threat against others.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

          7. Damage to property of other minor pupil on or off the school premises.<\/p><\/td>

          7. Threats of violence to fellow learners on or off the school premises.<\/p><\/td>

          7. Any act. Which in the opinion of the disciplinary tribunal, endangers the life and safety of others.<\/p><\/td><\/tr>

          8. Persistent disobedience at school.<\/p><\/td>

          8. Intimidating of others to enforce acquiescence including bullying fellow learners.<\/p><\/td>

          • Please report to the office when visiting the school.<\/li>
          • Teachers are not available during teaching hours to receive telephone calls, unless it is an emergency. Please leave a message with the secretary.<\/li>
          • Please make an appointment to see the principal or teacher.<\/li>
          • Homework books or workbooks must be signed when sent home.<\/li>
          • Medical and dental appointments must be made for after school.<\/li>
          • Parents must inform the school about medical information e.g. illnesses and medical aid membership.<\/li>
          • Holidays must be planned to coincide with school vacations and NOT during the term.<\/li>
          • Inform the school about change of address, telephone number of both parents (home and work).<\/li>
          • Parents are not permitted to use the parking area when dropping off their children at school. Children must be dropped and fetched at the gate.<\/li>
          • The school will not be held liable for any claim, losses, injuries and expenses suffered by parents or learners which were not caused by negligence of the school or the responsible teacher.<\/li>
          • Parents are liable to pay school fees as determined by the governing body.<\/li>
          • Parents are expected to get involved in the education of their child\/ren at school (e.g. assist with sport, attend meetings, assist the teacher in class with reading, etc.)<\/li>
          • Avail yourself for Parent \/ Teacher meetings to discuss your child\u2019s progress at the end of every term.<\/li>
